Anyone who knows me well might say I am an impatient person; I hate waiting for anything. Waiting to start our adoption process has been no different. These last few months have felt so long but we’ve been doing a good job of saving. Knowing that once our adoption home study is complete, we could wait for as little as two weeks or as long as two years for a placement, we decided we wanted to go ahead and get started. We have officially started tackling our home study binder.
This binder wants to know pretty much everything about us. We have to submit tax and financial information, answer what seems like a million personal questions, collect references, do physicals and background checks, watch a few videos, and complete a couple online education requirements. It’s a fairly thick binder but we really appreciate how organized our adoption agency is. It’s all outlined with lots of nice tabs. We’ve been working our way through it the last couple weeks and feel like we are making good progress. We’ve been told that once we turn in our binder it can take about 4-6 weeks to complete our interviews and have our home study typed up. We are excited to be getting started, but know we may also have a long road ahead of us.
