Happiness is a strange thing, well, to some.  Happiness, some say, is defined by how you feel, what others say, what you have and, some may say, by what you take or read. When were you at your happiest? What do you strive for to be happy? When you were born, you came into this world full of joy and happiness. You were at your peak - this peak may very well define for the rest of your life that something you strive for. From here on you learn love, pain, wrong and right, all these things now come into play. Through these life long lessons you come to an understanding of happiness at many times through your life, for some it’s daily. There are countless magazines telling you “how to be happy”, “things that make you feel good”, “happiness is found in (our products)”, “5 things to make you happy” and the list goes on and on. Are we so sad that we need other people to tell us how to be happy? We were born happy, really happy people. Filled with innocence, filled with joy, filled with love - because we didn’t know any better?

Adam and Eve were two very happy people. One day walking through the garden they find themselves talking with a devious snake that told them how to ‘be happy,’ have God-like understanding, simply by eating some fruit. This fruit they ate from was certainly not to be eaten! God himself told them, “you will surely die if you eat from that tree!”

These two people were not unhappy people, but, for some reason, they listened to the ungodly and believed that they needed to be better than what they were. Do you think there are similarities in what we read, talk, listen, take today? Is it possible that by growing up you’ve realised that you need to be better then what you are, your happy self. All of sudden most of us find ourselves running in circles - we think these promises said by others to help us be better, be happier are worth giving up what you already had to start with. Then you lose both.  You lose the happiness that you were created with, you think your new found happiness is better, but it too goes away… leaving you empty inside. So we look to the next thing and the next thing until we find ourselves taking pills, drugs or doing things that we thought were so disgusting when we were younger.

With these new feelings inside we find ourselves justifying our actions… actions that we said we would never do. Somehow they feel so right for that very short amount of time. We won’t turn away from these impurities because they have grabbed what is left of our hearts and we find temporary comfort in it.  What do we do!? How do we fix it!? Getting pulled from side to side sucks. One part of you is saying, “Yes more,” the other “I want out.” It’s a sad thing, so sad you find yourself crying once, twice, maybe everyday.

Christians are the worst for it. Those who are brought up with good solid morals, brought up with happiness and joy in there lives let it go, sadly when they let it go, guilt comes upon them more harshly than those who don’t believe.  “I know the story, I know what Jesus did, I know, I know, I know. But I can’t help it.” Famous words.

Are you so blind? Do you not see where happiness comes from! Do you not see where it all starts? I guess some of us choose to shove it to the side in disbelief, but I tell you now! Happiness comes from Love, Unconditional Love. This is a love that God founded, a love that God shows through Jesus’ death and resurrection. You think it’s all about eternal life? It’s way more than that, way more! Unconditional love brings happiness, but you won’t find it here, not now. The only way to experience unconditional love, that is once you have chosen to shove it off, and reject, disobey God is to come back to Him! Simply asking Him to forgive you of your sins isn’t enough because you will do it again, feel it! Show it through your actions, prove to God your needing His love, you want His love. Through this… Happiness is found. Happiness is achieved.

Recently Rachelle and I sponsored a beautiful young girl named Dania. Shes 8yrs old and from the Dominican Republic. Sponsoring a child has been particularly on my heart from a very early age. My parents showed me that this is a particularly important thing that we being the ‘better off’ ones should do, and my old man always told me that Jesus sets that commandment and example to all. But im going to show you something that made me, even more want to get a child… and quickly! Below is a very powerful video of a man named Steven Van Kranenburg who meets his Compassion child. The video is not all English and is subtitled.

I hope through this your hearts will be encouraged!

Just before Youth group on friday night my internet suddenly just stopped working. I assumed, as I didnt have time to investigate the sudden dropout - thought that they must just be having some problems and would be back up when I got home.

Nope not when I got home, nope not Saturday, then this morning I was going through the connection everything was fine! It says I was connected even… Stupid ISP thought that eveyone might so happen to have there IP settings set to ‘auto assign’, well not me! No notification or anything - alot of people have static IP address’ and they just change it without telling people! Half the peeps in this country wouldnt know where or how to change it anyway, how crappy is that?. Fixed now…

Unbelievable.

Well… its official. I now have a full time job working with Rachelle’s old man, construction.

So what does that mean for my own business? well not too much :D
I will be focusing on the business as part-time work and focusing it as my number ‘one’ thing I want to be doing. Because of life’s obligations (which has probably taken me a little while to realise) that I really do need to set my foot in permanent work; especially because I’m moving out very soon.

Only less than 8 weeks till the big day! So time to REALLY save (pfft… that won’t happen - wedding to expensive)

Man, I cant believe its only 7 weeks to the wedding. So so much to do, and the weird thing is… is that I almost don’t care!

Though to look at it in more of a positive manner;

  • almost finished guest list
  • I’ve started invitations
  • going suit hunting tomorrow w/out Isaac >.<
  • booked major things of course, like church, reception and the fantabulous honeymoon
  • almost finished song list
  • Rachelle + brides maids all have there dresses done

hmm… i suppose we’ve done a bit. Still a lot to go though…. ahh we will get it done.

oh guess what! I kinda quit Dick Smiths. Now i just gotta get a real job :P

Well, i just wanted to post a lil seeing I have lacking in doing so. On the big big upsides AGMF (Easterfest) is only next week! Pretty decent line-up too! Jars of Clay will be awesome!

Ill have to post some images and blogs about it; one of the highlights of the year ;)

Goodnight people 1.30am!

This is Joshua Barrie signing off!

It’s fantastic today to see so many of us doing as we’re told!!

The Bible says;

“Let love be your greatest aim”

1 Corinthians 14:1

Isn’t this a great day to show it!

3rd week in a row raining; which of course means no touch football!

As sad as I am about this we all must truly thank God for abundantly suppling the MUCH needed rain to our dry land.  All the prayer really paid off aye?

Mathew 7:7  “Ask, Seek, Knock”

Ask and it will be given to you!

Isn’t it awesome that God always keeps to his word.  I reckon it is… So peeps our dams are at around 35% in total capacity; though everyone hates missing out on there outdoor activities, and those who especially work to earn a living - I’d thank and probably ask God for more!  And for good reason to!

I’d encourage all of you to thank, and pray for more rain as it still is needed. But particularly pray for it out west where it is still very dry.

Well the two weeks away down at Grafton was really good fun, but a relaxing time also. Invading on the two week family holiday it almost didn’t stop raining!

I’m very thankful for the fantastic time they gave me once again for the second year. I tell ya people - it can be hard to put up with me for two weeks… ask Rachelle’s sisters let alone my own family :P

But yeah Great Time!

I was hoping to be a little more enthusiastic about barefooting… wasn’t till the second week I actually attempted it. Three goes and I got it, I suppose all that training last year paid off; the sucky thing is, not a picture to show for it :’(

First week I was a little sick with really bad stomach cramps as soon as we arrived with my fiance telling me to stop sooking not knowing the absolute pain I was having!. It was worse then the “man cold” I tell ya! No sympathy at all!

So once I healed (4 days later). I started skiing.. bit of kneeboard, bit of wakeboarding… single ski I hate >.< hurts every muscle and joint in your body and other stuff. But good fun.

My efforts to win the heart Rachelle’s soon to be two year old cousin (Mitch) were well underway until the 2 last days where he just lost interest of my funny faces and racing games. But on the last day gave me big kiss and hug goodbye :D He’s such a cutie.

I changed beds 4 times in total, from the tent -> annex -> tent (again) -> cabin w/ ensuite :D ! I think I got the better deal in the end :)

But yeah, once again thank you for a fantastic holiday.

Next holiday; Easter Fest
Then; Honeymoon

Pack your bags, where off to Grafton tomorrow morning!

Last year i think we left around 4.30am. Guestimating a 4.5hr journey.

Things i wish to work on;

  • Barefooting
  • Big air on wakeboard; grabs
  • 180/360 on Kneeboard (whilst jumping)
  • Boat licence

So should be a good two weeks away, hopefully not to rainy, but at the same time there is always something to do.

I reckon I’m gonna have some really huge, hard, very painful stacks… but some good skill development as i try to accomplish the above list.

Thats all i really have to say about that.

Wish me luck!!
