Yes, it’s true. We are engaged. Joshua got me good! I had no idea. I thought there was no way it could happen today. Okay, you’d think that his suggestion to watch the sun come up at the beach would have tipped me off but I just thought that after two years Josh was finally showing his romantic side. I thought it was just something special for us to do for our anniversary. Little did I know that there was a hidden motive behind this unexpected act of spontaneity (as it appeared to me).
Josh woke me at 3:30am. I came downstairs and I didn’t want to go. “I’m too tired. I need to get some sleep. I have to get up early every other day this week.” But Josh insisted we go. Reluctantly I agreed as he doesn’t often suggest we do things like this and I didn’t want to discourage him.
The trip to Fingal was a speedy one. We had a deadline to meet and Josh was not going to miss it.
Going through the “slow points” was a bit hairy. “Josh slow down. Josh they’re square gutters.” Fortunately we made it through all of them…except the last one! The flat tyre was not an amusing incident.
As always, my anger is short-lived when I’m with Josh. He doesn’t take it seriously. A bit of scolding from me, a few jokes from him and I get over it. A one way argument doesn’t work.
When we got to the carpark it was starting to get light. We started walking down the path to the beach. Josh said.”Let’s run.” So we ran the rest of the way to the lookout near the lighthouse. We made it in time to see the sun come up. It was beautiful. I was taking photos but Josh didn’t seem interested in that. He said that he wanted to go to Macca’s for breakfast. We just talked and enjoyed each other’s company. Then we started to leave.
I had the feeling that Josh was waiting for something. Then he said, “Do you love me?” I said, “Yes.” He asked me again, “Do you love me?” I answered, “Yes,” again. He asked me a third time, “Do you love me?” I said, “Yes, I do.” Then he dropped down on one knee and held out a gorgeous engagement ring with a huge stone on it saying, “Rachelle, will you marry me?” He took my breath away. I still can’t believe it! I said, “yes,” straight away and he put the ring on my finger. Then he hugged me. A few minutes passed and he said, “are you breathing?” Crying I said, “No!” Then he picked me up and just held me.
I’m still trying to get my head around it! My Joshua is unbelievable
